Me: Why on earth am I awake this early?!
Brain: Because, goals.
Me: Oh yeah….
When deciding my goals for the first week, I decided to pick general ideals to strive towards with the intention of really nailing it down next week.
- Wake up M-F at 5am (like a crazy person)
- Cardio exercises 3 times a week – M, W, F
- Strength-training exercises 2 times a week – T, TH
- Something active and adventurous – Weekends
- Drink 11 cups of water daily
Well, I decided to start out rough and stay up until past midnight then wake up at 5:00am, because I’m hardcore….really I was just having a great time and time escaped me.
My bed was calling to me the entire time I was getting ready to go to the gym this morning. My commitment was truly tested when I made the mistake of sitting down at my computer for a few minutes. I felt the pull, I started making excuses, bargaining, justifying…just 5 more minutes under those blankets then I’ll go to the gym, I swear! I had to get out of my house before I caved or had to admit I had a problem and sign up for Sleep-Junkies Anonymous.
Off to the gym I went! The parking lot was pretty full but I was happy to see the treadmills were open. Day 1 – Cardio! I launched Netflix and I was off to the races; jogging at a steady rate of 4.5mph. 30 minutes and 2 miles later I decided to call it a successful gym adventure.
